The Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology has inked a pact with SRG Organic Foods India Private Limited, a company jointly promoted by Southernland Research Group and Origin ITFS, for carrying out collaborative programme of research, new product development, training, application trials and analytical services.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between them indicates that this technological collaboration will lead to making new food products following various process like in-vitro and field trials. Tie-up will also play an effective role in testing the quality and nutritional facts of the different products. The pact has also paved the way to co-ordinate the application of trials including field and clinical trails on various food products using highly bio-available, bio-active from natural origin leading to development of value added products suiting all age groups. There will also be a series of joint in-plant training for Students, Employees and Entrepreneurs in the areas of Product Development, Sourcing Methodology and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). As far as research area is concerned, focus will be on the creation of research wing in the SRG farms and manufacturing centres. However, it is mutually decided that the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) will be decided based on assignment basis.
While signing the (MOU), Dr.K.Singaravadivelu, Director, Indian Institute of food processing Technology said that the Institute is equipped with all world class teaching and learning facility. The Food Processing Business Incubation Centre, NABL certified Food Quality Testing Laboratory and Knowledge Centre are potentially serving to the industry. He further added that such tie-ups with industry will make Indian brands to compete in international market by improving the manufacturing process and packaging. He hoped that this joint venture is a noteworthy one and is going to bring new verticals in the areas of new products development and institution-industry tie-up.
